JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted for admissions to UG engineering programmes into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 CFTIs. Every year, over 12 lakh candidates appear in exam. This year, as many as 11,48,000 candidates have registered for JEE Main 2018, which is 50,989 less than last year.

What's New in JEE Main 2018?
-
CBSE has announced that diabetic candidates can take fruits, sugar tablets and drinking water bottles inside the test hall.
-
4000 additional candidates can now apply for JEE Advanced as the number of candidates eligible to appear for exam has increased to 2,24,000 from 2,20,000.

Digital/ scanned copy of signature of Father/ Mother/ Guardian of the candidates has to be uploaded in the application form.

Candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam from Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will have an additional choice of appearing for the paper in Gujarati besides English and Hindi.

The number of exam centre cities has gone up to 258 from 113 last year which is almost twice.

Number of CFTIs participating in JEE Main 2018 has increased from 20 to 23.
- For the first time this year, metal detectors will be used to screen candidates. This is to ensure no candidate can take any electronic devices inside the exam hall and indulge in unfair practices.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Centres
JEE Main 2018 is conducted across 258 exam cities in India and abroad, out of which 248 are in India, while 10 exam centre cities are outside India. JEE Main 2018 Pen & Paper exam was conducted at 112 centres in India and abroad while Computer Based Test is being conducted in 258 cities on April 15 & 16. Candidates opting for pen-and-paper based test had to choose 4 exam centres of JEE Main 2018 in the order of their preference while candidates opting for online mode had to select only 1 exam centre while filling the application form. The exam centre details will be provided by CBSE on the JEE Main admit card. Some of the exam centres of JEE Main 2018 have been mentioned in the table below. Candidates must select those exam centre cities where they are comfortable in taking the test as per the convenient mode of the test.

JEE Main Counselling 2018
The Counselling of JEE Main 2018 is held through JoSAA which is the common counselling for both JEE Advanced and JEE Main that will probably be held from the third week of June till the third week of July 2018. JoSAA counselling will be held by JAB in multiple rounds.
